Gardening

By Kate Mullinger

Perhaps you missed your chance to garden this summer or have been gardening right along but are wondering how you'll get your "green" fix this fall. Lucky you! Sacramento has a second, cool-weather growing season; when such crops as lettuce of many varieties, spinach, peas, broccoli, beets, garlic, and onion thrive.

Beginning September 1, you may reserve a plot in the church's UUrth Song CommUUnity Garden for the October - March season on a first-come, first-served basis. Stop by the Garden table after the service, sign the necessary agreement, and pay your $20. Your plot will be available to work after September 26, (that's our clean-up day from the summer season).

Summer gardeners will participate and volunteers are welcome from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For ideas about what you might want to plant this fall, visit:
