UUSS MASTER PLAN UPDATE

September 25, 2011

Background:

The UUMPF and Oversight Committee have been working on the master plan with my office and our team of consultants since January of this year.    We have made significant progress in the planning process that has involved discussions with the UUSS ‘focus groups’ representing all aspects of the UUSS campus and programs.   A  ‘Needs Assessment’ questionnaire from the congregation has provided valued input so the plan responds to the collective needs and priorities.

On August 7th,  an initial draft of the master plan and the results of the questionnaire were presented to members of the congregation after the Sunday service, and further revisions to the plan have been made since then.   Most of the documentation of the planning process is available on the UUSS website, and the UUMPF web pages will be expanded as new material emerges.

 Current Status:

We are providing the attached information to update you about the plan.  This update includes a list of responses to commonly asked questions, and a copy of the current Master Site Plan and Building Floor Plan.  Large-scale versions of these drawings are on display in the Social Hall.    In addition to these drawings, the master plan process has developed a detailed program for how the campus can better accommodate current needs and future growth.

Some of the major elements of the plan include:  using ‘green’ sustainable principles, completing the lot line adjustment with the duplex properties, remodeling and enlarging (by removing interior walls) the existing Social Hall, adding a new entrance with support spaces, remodeling the kitchen and RE classrooms, expanding the offices, and renovating the parking area and other parts of the campus.

I will be leading a presentation of the master plan following the October 2nd service.  I look forward to this dialog with you.
