UUSS  Needs Assessment Congregation Questionnaire & Master Plan

8.7.11

The attached Needs Assessment Analysis records the ‘adjusted average’ score from a compilation of the 139 questionnaires returned by congregants.  This input from the congregation – registering the needs and priorities, will be used in giving shape to the master plan in the coming months.   In addition to this questionnaire, there have been detailed discussions with ten focus groups as well as regular meetings with the UUMPF planning committee.  All of this dialog and input are considered part of the ingredients to the plan.

This August 7th meeting will be used to describe some of the initial directions of the plan, and there will be another congregation-wide meeting on October 2 to review and discuss a later draft.   It is our intention to complete the master plan by the end of the year and to include preliminary discussions with the County to seek their comment on the long-range development plan for the campus.  Following this master plan process, an initial phase of the overall plan will be defined as a project to undertake in the near future.

In looking at the results of the questionnaire,  almost all of the items have merit as elements in the overall plan.   Those items that register at the higher range will be given priority.  For example, in the ‘near future’ project we foresee including such important elements as:

  • Remodel of the existing Social Hall – new flooring, sound system, seats, cooling system and possible expansion for more seating
  • Remodel of the kitchen
  • Development of new offices
  • Remodel of the RE classroom wing
  • Improvements to the parking area, street frontage, overall landscape and the east patio

An additional sheet attached to this narrative provides a list of the 20 highest priorities from the questionnaire and the corresponding response that has been developed in the current draft of the master plan.
