We are on the brink of something we have put energy in for many years. It is exciting! The UUSS Master Planning Facilitators, with the Oversight Committee and with the cooperation of our board will present the last phase in the planning process at the Special Congregational meeting on Feb. 6. All documents detailing the process can be found on the web site and you can comment on blog planituurth.
A detailed Site Review has been done by Jeff Gold, architect, and the engineers he has worked with. This included studies of aspects of our campus and buildings never before studied. Even more engineering studies must be done before we can do further building or extensive
remodeling—which would require that we meet building codes. These studies are proposed from Feb. to March. That will include a comprehensive geotechnical study for the drainage and soils, heating and cooling options, and structural tests on the Sanctuary construction. You will see these items referred to on the attached Master Plan Schedule.
Also, we need more specific in-put from you, the congregation, in order to complete our Master Plan. Meetings will be held in the next few months with you to determine the program needs of all of us. By next summer we hope to start specific plans and drawings for the future.
Next fall we plan to have a final phase in the creation of a Master Plan by putting a Capital Campaign in place so that in 2012 we can begin the implementation of this careful planning.
How exciting is that? We have such a wonderful campus bequeathed to us by our earlier members 50 years ago and we want to be good planners and builders for the next 50 years of UU’s. Please join us in this stewardship of our piece of this beautiful planet. You may want to further this with a financial donation of your own which you can do by specifying the Master Plan through the office.
Your participation is crucial to this project. Please be sure to attend the meeting on February 6 at 12:45 and watch for the next exciting developments.
