About Master Planning

By Colene Schlaepfer

After the service on May 31, the congregation was invited to brainstorm ideas about different areas of our campus, including:

With the recognition that a vision must come before change, we enthusiastically put forth new thoughts. This process continued at the first Sunday of the month Congregational Conversation on June 7.

If you have ideas or suggestions you would like to add, please let us know by sending an e-mail to Barbara Gardner, chairperson, or talking with anyone on the committee. It is important to get input from everyone. There will be many opportunities to add your opinions.

The process will move forward as the UU Master Plan Facilitators (aka :UUMPF") analyze the ideas and put them in a form to bring back to the congregation. This process will continue over the next months. The goal is to have the first part of a Master Plan to propose next October. This would include ideas from all of us. These ideas would be taken to an architect who would propose "solutions" which would then go back to the congregation for discussion. This process would continue, from congregation to architect, as each step is approved and we can move forward with a Master Plan.

New Entry Plan

Entry How does this fit in with the new plan? The planning process for this improvement of our campus was voted on by the congregation. Now we are in the fund-raising phase. One consideration of this plan was that any structure added would be moveable as needed to fit in with new plans. The entry structure could be moved and adapted to a future plan.

It is exciting to see the possibilities of our lovely land. The future holds much promise given the kind of enthusiastic participation and creativity of the people in our congregation.
