Rev. Roger Jones has serviced UUSS since 2008.  He is responsible for our Religious Education programs (including children, youth and adult) as well as leads the pastoral care program for the congregation. He supports our Fund Raising Strategy Team and annual Stewardship program.

Roger’s interests are spiritual practice (including prayer and Buddhist meditation), swimming, reading, social justice, the history and sociology of religion, recycling, wacky humor, farmers’ markets, and dessert.  At UUSS he enjoys observing and promoting the friendships that develop among people of different generations and backgrounds, especially in weekly Religious Education programs, monthly all-ages worship services, and the annual all-church camp.

Locally he serves on the board of the YMCA, is a member of the Rainbow Chamber of Commerce, and is a subscriber at several theater companies.  He previously served as a member of the grants panel for the Boston-based Unitarian Universalist Fund for a Just Society and as national treasurer for the UU Ministers Association. He has served as minister to UU congregations in Silicon Valley, Minnesota, New England, and the Chicago area.

A native of Indiana, he holds a BA in English and Spanish and an MBA in finance from Indiana University, after which he worked 10 years in Illinois State government.  Before coming to California he earned Master of Divinity degree from Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago.  In 2017 he earned the degree of Doctor of Ministry at Pacific School of Religion.

Rev. Lucy Bunch joined UUSS in August 2013. Lucy is inspired by the UUSS mission “to deepen our lives and be a force for healing in the world.”    Lucy has responsibility for the administrative functions of the church, along with serving as lead minister for social justice programs,  small group ministries and  membership.  She developed and leads the Soul Matters small groups program for the congregation. Her current focus is on interfaith justice activities.

Lucy is a 2011 graduate of Starr King School for the Ministry and was ordained in the Fall of 2012. She has BA in Economics from Oregon State University and an MS in Agricultural Economics from Cornell University. She worked at the University of California Davis as an administrator for over 20 years. She has been an active UU since 1989.

Lucy is married to Nancy, her partner of 25 years. When she is not at UUSS you can find her singing with her choral group the Sacramento Master Singers, doing Tai Chi, gardening, hiking, reading, or enjoying the company of her animal companions.
