There's no shortage of apocalyptic predictions of Armageddon; some fundamentalists see the warning signs all around. Yet even non-religious people find cause to invoke scenarios of global environmental collapse, irrevocable international conflict, nuclear winter, and other forms of chaotic annihilation. To be sure, any of us can feel the temptation to give in to despair and just give up. What do you think? All I can say for sure is that today is the end of January. | |
