A new year of Soul Kids (K-5th grade) begins Sept 6!

Junior High Youth Group (JHYG) meetings will be 1st through 4th Sundays beginning Sept. 20.

Senior High Youth Group (SHYG) meetings begin Sunday, October 4 and continue 1st and 3rd Sundays.

For kids from Kindergarten to grade 5, participants will build community during Soul Kids on Sunday mornings. Elementary kids will start in the sanctuary with their families. Our congregation will sing out the kids to their program.

For youth in grades 6-7-8, our Junior High Youth Group (we call it JHYG) will take place four times a month on the 1st through 4th Sundays during service. Youth, please start in service with your adult(s).

For youth in grades 9-10-11-12, our Senior High Youth Group (we call it SHYG) continues to be a place of connection, mutual support, and exploration of our UU ethical and spiritual values as we engage with the challenges of our lives and our world. Please start in service with your adult(s).

At UUSS, our RE program creates a sacred space where children and youth explore, wonder, and ask questions surrounded by a beloved community of peers, teachers, and mentors. Our work is to give our children and youth a sense of belonging, the knowledge that they are enough just the way they are, and a place in congregational life. Religious Education is a combination of connection, educational opportunities, service, and justice-making. On any given Sunday, our children are engaged in one of these activities. RE is a partnership between our staff, volunteer teachers, and the family.

Crossing Paths:

Our Comparative Religion Curriculum for All Ages in 2026-2027

Starting this fall, UUSS embarks on a program of whole-church religious education, a journey of faith exploration, guided by our ministers, Religious Education staff and volunteers, members and friends as well as our neighbors in faith in this diverse local area. We will adapt materials from the Soul Matters curriculum, Crossing Paths.

The Soul Matters small-group themes will still set the tone each month for elements of our services and guidance for Soul Matters groups, while an additional Crossing Paths theme each month will offer a doorway into the exploration of spiritual traditions from around the world and next door.

Sunday sermons, relevant service projects, after-service forums and field trips to other houses of worship will be open to all ages. Our Sunday Religious Education program for children and youth will feature related faith exploration content and reflection questions related to our monthly themes.

Join us as we start our Crossing Paths journey in September for our first topic, which is the values and practices of Unitarian Universalism. If you have a particular connection or background to one of the neighboring faiths in the local area, let us know.
