In our political, social, and personal landscapes there is much attention focused on supposed problems that don’t need fixing. This distracts us from issues which do need good attention. Arduous love is a real solution. It is an outflowing of the heart which is grounded in the real world, sees our beauty without being blind to our imperfections, and is not faint hearted. And it has the courage to persistently tackle tough realities even when the going is rough.
Rev. Doug Kraft teaches meditation in Sacramento. He served as our Lead Minister from 2000-13 and is our Minister Emeritus. He and Erika Kraft have two grown sons and two grandchildren. His books about Buddhist practice and a collection of his sermons and reflections are available in the UUSS Bookstore.
