Since learning to count, humans have long contemplated the infinite, but what happens when we try to pin down exactly what infinity means? We will consider historical mathematical efforts to reckon with infinity and some of the curious consequences thereof.
Christopher Goff, PhD, is a mathematics professor at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, where he teaches courses in abstract algebra and the history of mathematics. In his spare time, he enjoys singing in the Sacramento Master Singers.
