The ancient commandment to welcome the stranger is perhaps the most challenging religious and ethical standard to follow, but that doesn’t make it any less worthy.  At the same time, it can be hard to consider the shadowed aspects of our own souls.  Let’s consider the need and reluctance to welcome the unfamiliar among us and within us.
