Zoom Music Performances
Music People!
Hi! You’ve come to this page because you’re performing music (playing, singing, cymbals smashing, triangle dinging, etc.) for one of our streaming services. I (Dirk) created this page because people were testing their sound out in zoom and getting stressed about the low quality. But what people don’t know is Zoom has a “secret” setting for performing music that makes everything sound better and if you don’t know about it you likely won’t be satisfied with the sound quality while testing zoom with your music!
Best is to not worry about any of this yourself and set up a time for us to meet in zoom BEFORE trying to figure it all out yourself. I will turn on the “secret” setting and show you how to use it. I’ll also tweak some other settings that can help with quality. We’ll do this all before the online service you’re performing in. So if Keith or one of the ministers sent you to this page go ahead and contact me at or even better text or call me at 916 600 6698 and we’ll connect!
…if you really can’t help testing zoom music out on your own then scroll down for the instructions below:
The “secret” that makes a world of difference is to use “original sound” setting under zoom when doing music or singing. You can only do this on a computer (no option on phone or tablet yet). To enable this, go into the audio settings of zoom (click upward pointing arrow right next to mute button in bottom left):
