People of Color Caucus
People of Color Caucus
We are individuals who self-identify as People of Color, including those of mixed-race, who affirm our Unitarian Universalist mission and values. Our unique identity within Unitarian Universalism, which strives toward a diverse, multi-cultural, multi-racial community, carries with it both responsibilities and opportunities to provide vision and leadership for the Journey Toward Wholeness at UUSS.
Mission Statement
To gather together for mutual support.
While we are inspired by the liberating messages of Unitarian Universalism, congregational life often does not reflect diverse worldviews or cultural practices. This can leave People of Color feeling invisible and isolated. We gather to listen, understand, and work collectively to heal the effects of unconscious and institutional racism and systemic oppression. The Caucus gatherings provide a safe space and a supportive community.
To welcome any and all People of Color who may be seeking a nontraditional spiritual home, and present to these explorers, abundant kinship and the possibility of a truly diverse congregation.
