UUSS Family Promise – Hosting May 13 – 20

First great news, the new roll-away beds have arrived! Family Promise received a grant from the Sacramento Bee Book of Dreams to purchase heavy duty roll-away beds for our adult guests (young kids will still be using cots). This is another way to make our guests comfortable and also retain their dignity in a difficult time of their lives.
Speaking of sleeping…..we have no volunteers signed up for the overnight yet. Many of us “seasoned” volunteers stay more than one night, it would be wonderful if we can get some others so everyone only has to stay once.
Duties:
-Arrive at 7 pm
-Have interesting conversation with guests and your fellow overnighter
-Sleep – on very comfy air mattresses (need to bring your own bedding)
-5:45 am Put out breakfast food and brew coffee
-6:15 am Make sure guests are awake by gently knocking on doors unless you are Nancy and then you sing
-7 am – Families leave, clean up breakfast stuff and leave
If you can’t stay over there are plenty of other ways to help that week. We will have a sign-up table at church April 29 and May 6. Or you can sign-up online

Also, does anyone have an electric frying pan and/or griddle we can borrow for the Saturday Breakfast?
Thanks for all of your support.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Sorry – I can’t do 5/17 either. I didn’t realize those nights were busy.
I volunteered for the 5/15 overnight and I can’t do it that night. Any way someone can switch with me? I can do any night except 5/13 and 5/15. Sorry for the confusion.
