Music Moment # 35

Hello UUSS friends!
Awhile ago I was wondering and researching if the new justice on the Supreme Court might ‘tip the scales’ (even more), and I worried that gay marriage might be overturned. That recalled to my mind several dear people, including a long-ago roommate Tim, who sadly died in 1991 without finding the love he sought so much. For many years I had wanted to sing “Patchwork Quilt,” (which took much practice beyond memorizing just to avoid choking up!), and UUSS let me on a Sunday 3+ years ago — a capella, with the slide show (click here to download) behind me on the then newish screen. Maybe you can watch while you listen, techno whizzes?!?
After that song, I felt as if I could retire (I didn’t!), but I recall knowing I achieved a key spiritual and musical goal (It’s dedicated to Tim, Joel, John, Larry, and all who have passed)
I discovered some time ago another favorite song besides this one by my favorite singer Keali’i Reichel (I have some of his albums on cassette!), which our UUSS sopranos and altos and Tom Derthick on bass sang so well — twice! I include it below.
I’m hoping you, my adopted ohana, are able to send your voice recordings to Ivan. See last week’s music moment if you missed the details.
Aloha
Keith
