Scams aimed at elders, mourners, generous people, congregations

As many of you know, often there are scams in which criminals send you an email that LOOKS AS IF it is coming from a friend, a minister, the head of a charity, or someone else you trust. Then once they get you in conversation they ask you to buy gift cards from one vendor or another (usually online) and provide the gift card codes to the person writing to you. “Grieving Loved Ones Targeted in Obituary Scams”– someone brought to may attention the ways that scammers use information from published obituaries to manipulate and defraud widowed and other grieving family members.
