Greetings, UUSS Parkway Stewards and Friends,
Just like in November, we had 14 of our veterans come out this past Saturday, the 9th, and collect a very large amount of trash, including from an abandoned unhoused camp. on our UU Mile. Coincidentally, the County had one of its Parkway crews out who helped remove with a couple trucks and a Bobcat what we picked up on the back loop of the bicycle path close to the river. The weather cooperated; it was a clear, sunny day which quickly warmed up. In an hour’s time, working in small groups, we filled many bags of trash found along the bike paths, but also in the woods. Clair Urness and Theo White had not been out with us in a while and it was great to see them.
Later, we retired to Panera Bread for coffee and conversation. Finishing our 12 monthly outings each 2nd Saturday for 2023, we had a chance to thank two former Mile Stewards, Jeff Voeller and Dave Dawson, for their work. They have been great leaders and role models over the years and continue to “show up”. You guys are terrific and we appreciate all you have done!
Our next UUSS Parkway Stewards’ Saturday clean up is scheduled on January 14, 2024 with check-in at 8:45 a.m. and an hour of trash collection from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Wishing you a safe and wonderful holiday and a happy, prosperous 2024!
Eric Ross, Mile Steward
UUSS Parkway Stewards
