We are going to be showing some green burial/home funeral films, on our Monday night death-positive film series, most likely they’ll be August and/or September. Second Mondays of the month. 6 pm
The Davis Cemetery in Davis, CA, allows green burials. You may use a burial shroud or wicker basket. I arranged a green burial for my son a couple of years ago. He was buried in a shroud at the Davis Cemetery. The staff there is wonderful and very helpful.
All states allow families to hold home funerals and California does have some “green burial ” locations where they don’t use/allow embalming or caskets, etc. The best place to get more information on specific locations would be the Green Burial Council: http://www.greenburialcouncil.org/
Is there any local area cemetery accepting bodies for shroud or wicker basket burial? I saw online that it is acceptable in other areas of the U.S. Because common practices and cremation is not good for the environment, I want to leave a better contribution to the planet than just ashes.
