Alliance-for-All program June 13 at 11:00 a.m. (come for snacks and sign-in at 10:45) in the UUSS Main Hall Library/Bookstore. Hear about this meaningful and lifesaving–yet simple–ministry. As those who live on the streets must survive this high temperatures, let’s learn about ways they are provided with water, food, respect, and referrals to places of help.
Jerry Houseman of UUSS Mercy Pedalers (one of a growing number of UUSS volunteers) is joined by colleagues from St. Mark’s United Methodist. All are welcome. $3-$5 donation to the Alliance is invited; please enjoy snacks, make new friends, and cool off at UUSS.
HERE IS A RECENT LETTER FROM SISTER LIBBY FERNANDEZ, THE FOUNDING DIRECTOR:
In March, I was hit by a car while out for a walk. While I’ll make a full recovery, I haven’t been able to pedal since the accident. This experience has made me more grateful than ever for the fantastic volunteer pedalers that make our ministry a beacon of hope in our community!
Just a year and a half since we launched Mercy Pedalers, I am proud to say that we are over 75 pedalers strong and counting! This means that we are able to bring more refreshment, comfort and kindness to people living on the streets in Sacramento.
I’m writing today because I need your help. With more pedalers, we need more supplies than ever. As the scorching summer heat approaches, the needs of our homeless brothers and sisters have never been greater. We will need to purchase bottled water, nutrition bars, first aid items and more to help meet the basic needs of the families, men and women without a place to live.
Will you make a generous gift today to help us fill our bike bags with survival essentials this summer?
Your compassionate generosity will help us offer warmth and kindness to those most in need and break down barriers that prevent them from accessing resources to make it off the streets. Every gift is truly appreciated. You are making a difference!
With deep gratitude,
Sr. Libby Fernandez, RSM
Director, Mercy Pedalers
