The UUSS volunteers serving in leadership positions want to keep the congregation updated about current and upcoming conversations. In this monthly message you will find updates from your Board of Trustees, Program Council, and occasionally from the Nominating Committee and Endowment Trust.

Nominating Committee: Does your New Year’s resolution include supporting your UUSS community? The Nominating Committee will be available after service to discuss leadership opportunities available for 2024 and beyond! Stop by our table in the Welcome Hall after service January 14th and 28th. Come meet our leaders! Stay a few minutes after service on February 11th for our Second Annual “Leadership Meet and Greet”. Listen to current elected officers of the Congregation explaining their duties and responsibilities to help us all understand how UUSS goes about the business of being a Congregation. Information about leadership opportunities as well as avenues for personal growth will also be available.

Rent out our beautiful facilities: We have wonderful facilities that are available for rental for weddings, parties, family reunions, work events, etc. Consider renting our many spaces (indoor and outdoor, different sizes) for your next event and tell everybody you know about them. Rentals bring us a needed source of income to help carry out our mission. Information about rentals is here on our website.

By-Laws Changes: The Board has embarked in an effort to amend the UUSS bylaws. The last time the bylaws were amended was in 2018. Take this opportunity to read these documents that guide our congregation and submit your input to  by February 28th. Please note that it’s the by-laws, not the Constitution, that are being amended at this time.

Program Council Update: PC members are communicating with their activity groups about projected expenditures and revenues for the 2024-2025 Church Year. The information will be used by the Council at its January meeting to review requests, make modifications and forward budgetary recommendations to the Treasurer.

How to get in touch with your volunteer leaders:
Your elected Board of Trustees meets monthly. Our next meeting will be Thursday, January 25th, 6:30 pm on Zoom and in the library. You are welcome to join us by accessing the same Zoom link as the Sunday morning services.

The Board’s role is to oversee issues of UUSS finances, facilities, personnel and long-range planning; it makes decisions on policies rather than management decisions.
