June Leadership Update to the Congregation

The UUSS volunteers serving in elected leadership positions want to keep the congregation updated about current and upcoming conversations. In this monthly message you will find updates from your Board of Trustees, Program Council, and occasionally from the Nominating Committee and Endowment Trust.

Farewell to Rosemary: We’re preparing to say “Goodbye” to Rosemary Dodd, our ministerial intern whose last day will be Thursday, June 13, 2024. Rosemary attended her last Board of Trustees meeting – we wish her well as she crosses one threshold to another.

May Congregational Meeting: Our congregational meeting was held on May 19 following the Worship Service. Members attended both live and virtually. The new budget (fiscal year 2024-25) was unanimously approved. The new slate of officers, program council members and nominating committee members were also approved unanimously. Thank you to all who attended. The Presidents’ and Ministers’ Reports will be posted at a later time. Treasurer Victoria Owens presented the budget and thanked the Stewardship Committee for their dedicated work on the pledge drive. (Not all pledges have been submitted yet, however. To submit a pledge in support of UUSS programs and staff, go to uuss.org/pledge.)

General Assembly: The board discussed this year’s upcoming UUA General Assembly, to be held virtually June 20 through June 23. UUSS will hold “Watch Parties” in the Fahs Classroom (and Room 6) during that time. Please watch for updates in the Bluesheet and in Weekly Message. New Activity Groups supported by Program Council: PC voted to officially accept two new activity groups: the People of Color Caucus and the singing group Treble Ensemble. PC also approved using $150 to provide support to the 2024 UUSS Thanksgiving Dinner.

Your elected Board of Trustees meets monthly. Our next meeting will be Thursday, June 27, 6:30 pm on Zoom and in the library. You are welcome to join us by accessing the same Zoom link as the Sunday morning services. The Board’s role is to oversee issues of UUSS finances, facilities, personnel and long-range planning; it makes decisions on policies rather than management decisions. You can find more information about the board and read the minutes and treasurer’s report here uuss.org/board
