Your elected Board of Trustees meets monthly. Our next meeting will be Thursday, November 17, 6:30 pm in person in the Library and on Zoom. You are welcome to join us by accessing the same Zoom link as the Sunday morning services.

We think it is very important to keep the congregation updated about current and upcoming conversations. The Board’s role is to oversee issues of UUSS finances, facilities, personnel and long-range planning; it makes decisions on policies rather than management decisions.

Recent Work: 

• The Board received a presentation on the roles and responsibilities of the UUSS Committee on Ministry.
• Trustee-at-large Sally Wilkins became the Board liaison to the Unitarian Universalist Association, a new liaison position.
• The Board agreed the October Congregational meeting was a success, with approximately 90 UUSS members (online or in person) in attendance.
• Board discussed ways to make progress on its fiscal year goal of leadership development.
• The ministers proposed intent to take sabbatical leaves in 2023/2024 and the Board approved a motion to initiate search process for a ministerial intern during the 2023/2024 fiscal year.
• Board agreed to reduce its Reserve Ratio (reserve funds divided by current annual budget) goal to 15%-25%. After the Covid pandemic began, the board had increased the Reserve Ratio goal to 33%. The Reserve Ratio is currently 25%.
• UUSS recently received and posted a certificate from the Congregational Giving staff of the Unitarian Universalist Association. It recognizes that we have again paid our “fair share” of dues to the UUA’s Annual Program Fund. This gift supports the larger UU movement; for UUSS it is nearly $40,000 per year.
