GA is the annual conference of our denomination, the Unitarian Universalist Association. It takes place in a different region each year and is in the West this year: Spokane, Washington, from June 19-23.
Delegates from UU congregations do the business of our larger UU association, including votes on UUA leadership and public-witness actions and a Statement of Conscience. With music, lectures, author events, dances, and workshops for lay leaders and social activists, it’s a big event. We hear from the Rev. Susan Frederick Gray (the first woman elected as president of the UUA), the UUA Board of Trustees, and commissions and committees of the UUA. Anyone is welcome to register to attend GA, and there is are special programs and identity-based groups like Young Fun (daily activities for kids), Youth Caucus, Young Adult Caucus, Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism, the International Council of Unitarians and Universalists, and theologically-distinct UU groups–Pagans, Christians, Jews, Humanists, Buddhists and other groups that someone will point out I omitted inadvertently.
The Unitarian Universalist Society of Sacramento (UUSS) has 8 slots for voting delegates, so if you would like to attend in the role of a delegate from UUSS, contact . There also is an option for offsite, online delegate participation, which saves the cost of travel and lodging. Many of the major events will be live-streamed, but there’s nothing like being there in person with 4,000 members of our family of faith. You can register up to the start of GA, but the earlier you do, the cheaper the registration fee.
Tomorrow, March 1, is when the housing/lodging reservation system opens, and GA hotels fill up fast. You can book a hotel in advance of registering for GA itself. Learn about General Assembly by clicking here.
