As part of our commitment to being “a force for healing in the world” every month UUSS gives away half of our Sunday offering to a local not-for-profit organization. Who will be a Community Partner for the upcoming year is decided by the UUSS congregation in the fall after the congregational meeting in October.
To be eligible, the organization must be involved in helping the greater Sacramento Area community, and whose mission supports goal #2 from our strategic plan: Increase our presence and identity in the larger community by deepening our relationships with our community partners, especially by developing shared work or activities with them.
In order to achieve this goal the Social justice Coordinating Council, with the approval of the UUSS Board of Directors, has identified six partners with whom we have a strong partnership who will be carried forward as a community partner for 2024 without an election. However, each year the council will review our relationship with them and determine if the relationship still warrants continuation of the partnership without election.
The established partners for 2024 include Loaves and Fishes, Family Promise, River City Food Bank, National Alliance for Mental Illness, Planned Parenthood and Mercy Pedalers. That leaves 6 opportunities for other community groups to become community partners.
If you would like to nominate an organization, please complete the “UUSS Nomination For Community Partner” found here, or pick up a nomination form at the office. Nominations need to be submitted by October 1. Voting will commence after the Congregational meeting on October 15.
If you have questions, please contact Bobbie Keill at communitypartners@uuss.org.
