Face masks for those in immigration detention in Marysville

As many of you know, the Immigration Justice group at UUSS does a lot of work at the Yuba County Jail in Marysville where about 150 people are in immigration detention. We just got a call from the Captain there asking if we could get together 1000 masks for everyone at the jail – those in immigration detention and those in county custody. Any style mask, homemade or store bought, elastic or with fabric ties, will be accepted.
We’d like to get the masks into the jail ASAP. We’re in regular contact with many of the people at the jail, and so far we’re hearing that there aren’t any signs of virus infection in the housing pods. We want to keep it that way.
Anyone can send masks to:
Captain Garza/Face masks
215 5th St. Suite 150
Marysville CA 95901
If you send individually, that would be great. However, in order to send the masks in a larger batch to make it easier for the jail staff, we’ve set up a collection point at the church. If you can safely do so, please drop the masks into the bin on the bench outside the church office. We’ll collect Friday April 10 at 1 pm and Monday April 13 at 1 pm and send them on to the jail.
Thank you!! Susan Lange Immigrant Justice group
