A Step Toward Justice

Yesterday, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors took an action that shifted its culture and moved toward more justice by adopting the Environmental Justice General Plan Element. This Environmental Justice element sets County policy to prioritize improvements and programs that address the needs of EJ communities such as our own area of West Arden Arcade. Our Sacramento ACT Environmental Justice Committee was there to advocate yesterday, has been working on this for almost two years, and commends the Board of Supervisors for this action.
What’s next? In January, the County will hold a meeting to hear community priorities for the County to implement in their next budget year. They will give us a date for this shortly.
Because of the holiday, our next EJ Committee Meeting will be January 8 @ 7-8:30 p.m. in the UUSS Library.
