The Rise for Climate, Jobs, and Justice march on September 8 in San Francisco is expected to be the biggest climate march ever on the west coast. 350 Sacramento, faith groups and others are organizing buses to take people to San Francisco.

They just chartered a 4th bus.  This one starts at 909 12th Street at 7:15 a.m. and then picks up more passengers in Davis before heading to SF.  They plan to load for the return at 3:45 and phone for the driver to pick us up as soon as everyone shows up, so by 4pm.  But there will be closed streets and traffic for the bus driver to deal with getting to us and getting out of town, so maybe the ride home will take longer than usual.

Real cost per person = $15.  We can take just $5 if that’s what folks can afford.

People who want a seat should email Lynne Nittler from the Yolo Interfaith Alliance quickly at

This bus already has 6 UU’s on it!

If anyone from UUSS goes please let Christine Bailey know at beckerbailey@sbcglobal.net know so that UUSS can be registered as a participating congregation.

The faith coordinator for the march is from the UU church in Oakland.

Can’t make it to SF? The Sacramento Climate Coalition is organizing an action from 10 am-1 pm @McClatchy Park (Oak Park). This event will include bicycle-powered sound by Clan Dyken, speakers, and booths. It is being held in cooperation with the Oak Park Farmer’s Market with locally sourced and organic food.
