In Loving Memory– Carol Baxter (1934-2021)

We extend our condolences to the friends and family of our UUSS member Carol Baxter. She died unexpectedly at home on Jan. 26 of heart failure. She was 86. After major heart surgery in 2008, Carol lived an active life, walking four miles a day and regular workout classes. Indeed, her Fitbit device showed that she had walked 6,000 steps in the morning; she died in the afternoon.
Carol studied the sciences at UC Berkeley until stopping to raise her children, and later studied design. She was a professional interior designer who worked with architects and designed furniture. She was also a prolific artist in other media. She and her late husband moved to Sacramento in 1972; he died in 1996. Carol joined UUSS in 1998. Her partner of a decade was the late Denny Hull, also part of UUSS. She was also a prolific artist. Carol is survived by her children Brook Baxter, Dennis Baxter, and Leslie Baxter-Hovey (who is a member of the Mount Diablo UU Church), and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions in Carol’s honor are invited to Doctors without Borders, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, and the Heritage Fund here at UUSS. The family will plan a remembrance on Zoom.

Just found out that Carol is gone. She was a good friend and I spent time painting and sharing meals with her since the early 1980’s. What a loss. She was always a joy to be with.
