In Loving Memory: John Stanton

Former UUSS member John Stanton passed away this month at age 82, of a second heart attack (his first was in December). His wife Mary has been living in a care facility and is on hospice care. They have two grown children, Eric (in Denver) and Leslie Stanton (she lives in Sacramento). John was a reporter and political editor for the Peninsula Times in Palo Alto and later worked for the Sacramento Bee. In retirement he ran Stanton’s Books near 48th and Folsom from 1997-2003. He was a member of the Men’s Group at UUSS, and we extend our condolences to those good friends as well as to his family. Information about a published obituary and service will be provided later. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the Sacramento SPCA or to the UUSS Heritage Fund (those honored by memorial gifts to the Heritage Fund will be listed in our permanent Book of Recognition and Gratitude, which is in the Library).
