As you know from the Ministerial Message I sent on Saturday, a scam email went out to some of our members. The writer was pretending to be from me, asking for people to get in touch by return email. This is the “gift card” scam, in which you will be asked to buy gift cards online and give the codes to the phony person. It’s happened to a lot of religious communities.
I just read a very good summary of different scams on the PayPal website. (PayPal is often the payment mechanism that criminals use if they don’t ask for gift cards or don’t get your personal credit card information out of you. Click to read the summary:
