Greeting from UUSS
This message is an outreach of love and an overview of the activities that we have planned to keep us connected while services and programs are limited. Please know that the office is open all week, and Rev. Roger and I are here if you need to reach us.
As we shared in our recent message we are suspending Sunday services, Religious Education programs (Spirit Play, JHYG and SHYG) and Nursery Care at UUSS from now through March 31. This decision was made to follow the California Governor’s proclamation to mitigate the Covid-19 virus.
Small groups of less than 25 can continue to meet as long as there is significant space between the participants. We are contacting all group leaders to determine if they plan to meet in the coming weeks. Room 11 and the Welcome Hall will be set up with plenty of space between chairs. We will try to post any cancellations on the web site and through minister’s messages, but also please check with your group leader as well. See also a list of cancellations below.
Rev. Roger and I embrace the challenge of staying connected to you during this time of physical separation. Below is a calendar of events planned for the wee; most will be offered on Zoom, but some in person as well. First and foremost, we will be offering an online worship service on Sunday morning and Tuesday evening. We will connect on Zoom (see the box with Zoom instructions below). Our account can handle up to 100 participants, so we encourage you to join us for readings, prayer, message, and yes – singing! In addition, Rev Roger and I will have regular in person and online office hours, for anyone who needs support and connection. Over the next few weeks we will be modifying the schedule based on what’s working and any new ideas that come our way. Let us know what your ideas and needs.
I hope that during the coming weeks you will find the comfort and support you need during these trying times, whether it is through UUSS your family, friends, or other communities. And I hope that you can support others in their challenges. Times like these require us to be kind and supportive of each other and understanding of how we all may respond differently to the challenge we face.
Lets lead with love in these trying times.
Sending love to all,
Rev. Lucy
