New Policy on Gathering–Ministerial Reflections

The campus is getting more and more active these past few weeks, with several groups now meeting regularly on campus. This Sunday (July 4) we will broadcast our service from the sanctuary and starting later this month, we will invite a limited number of people to join us. Stay tuned for the sign-up process to get your seat for a July service.
As we enter the next (and hopefully final) phase of the pandemic there are different and equally valid perspectives on masking, based on your risk profile. I saw this play out with the board discussion on how we can safely gather on our UUSS campus. Even the experts have different opinions on what is the best course of action. Those of you who track the numbers are likely aware that Covid cases in Sacramento County are rising, primarily through the Delta variant of the virus. It is clear that we need to be patient and careful a bit longer. Plus it is important to remember that children under 12 are not yet eligible for the vaccine.
In the section below you can find our most up-to -date policy on physical gathering at UUSS. This is the Boards recommendations, based on advice from the Physical Gathering Task Force.
It feels so wonderful to be opening back up, seeing people again in person. We all want the same thing – a return to some sense of freedom and normalcy. We all want our church community to gather with all present. We will get there, but not quite yet. Please be patient with those who have a different sense of risk than you do – there is no one right way except to be kind and compassionate with each other.
