Finding Light On The Parkway, Saturday, May 2, 2020

Hi, Folks,
You’re in for an exciting moment along the American River Parkway if you’re able to watch an osprey spot a fish from high in the air, pause, dive, catch and carry it away. Such a feat, magnificently choreographed into the osprey’s genetic behavior, may be repeated several times a day by this large raptor which subsists, almost exclusively, on a diet of fish. As an example of refinement in the osprey’s technique, the bird always carries the fish head facing forward in order to reduce air resistance in flying away.
I hope that, as you carry out the affairs of your day today, you meet the least resistance possible!
Dave

Rich and I spent a long time watching one fish at William Pond earlier this week! It was never successful, sadly.
