Finding Light On The Parkway, Tuesday, 3/24/20

Hi, Folks,
Today’s light moment from the American River Parkway brings us a North American beaver (Castor canadensis), seen here using dental floss after a big meal. I am concerned that this one clearly exceeds the CBDC (Centers for Beaver Disease Control) recommendations for BBMI (Beaver Body Mass Index). If I were a veterinarian who spoke beaverish, I’d probably recommend a lot more swimming and a lot fewer juicy twigs… And, check out that flat tail at water’s edge!
This little guy was sitting on the riverbank, peacefully munching away in the midst of a metropolitan area of about 2.5 million people, just about a half mile upstream from the Watt Ave. bridge, where an average of 96,000 cars a day cross over. Out of sight, but within about 100 yards, cyclists and runners were hurrying by. Despite all that was swirling not far away, the beaver seemed contented, indeed.

Keep finding the light!
Dave
