Finding Light On The Parkway, Tuesday, April 21, 2020

Hi, Folks,
In 1965, my parents gave me a book of poems titled “Looking For Water”* by Eric Barker. At that time, Eric lived in and wrote often about Big Sur, a place where, in my youth, I had many wonderful experiences that still remain special to me. Here is Barker’s reflection about a heron wading in a pool of water
“The Pool”, by Eric Barker
For what’s above
Look deep and clearer down:
The images of trees
Grow through the swimming clouds.
Lost in a watery glide
A hawk gives up its purpose in the sun.
Sedate on stilts,
Through sauntering clouds,
A heron minces
And the ripples flow
Continuous with willows where he stalks
Frogs in the waded sky.
Halos become his image:
Doubled in crystal,
Erect in etheric poise,
He steps through widening circles
In the clouds.
Perhaps we are confined; but, as you step through the day, here’s hoping that the widening circles of many pleasant memories help to bring light to your life!
