Dear UUSS Parkway Stewards and friends:

On Saturday, February 8th, Dave Dawson and 10 other participants came out to Mile 6 North of the Parkway (our “UU Mile”), enjoyed mild temperatures and blue Skies, and worked together to clean up our assigned area of the American River close to the church off Howe Ave. at the Northrop Access. As Dave reported: “[b]ecause of the wet weather and flooding, there had been little activity on the mile, and so the pickings were slim.” Despite the flooding, the crew was able to fill a number of large trash bags as seen above.

After an hour’s work and the group photo, those pictured and the photographer made it over to Panera Bread where over coffee the talk flowed widely, easily, and interestingly. Thanks to all for your efforts, welcome to Jim Vanderveen, Derek Spitz, and Theo Lantz, our newest Parkway Stewards, and many thanks to Dave Dawson for his leadership!

Our next UUSS Parkway Stewards’ Saturday cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, March 8th beginning at 8:45am. Please consider showing up to fulfill our mission statement by participating: “We come together to deepen our lives and be a force for healing in the world.” I will send out a reminder for this Saturday’s clean up In the next few days….

With gratitude,

Eric Ross, Mile Steward
UUSSParkway Stewards
