Because of inclement weather we rescheduled to the 27th (from the orginal date of the 13th)
WE’LL BE HAVING A CLEAN UP SATURDAY THE 27TH, STARTING AT 9 AM!!!
Greetings in the New Year, Parkway Stewards, new and old, and friends, A look at this Saturday’s weather forecast for our first Clean Up of 2024 shows a high of 53 degrees, with cloudy skies, light winds, and probable rain. Not what I would have wished to kick off our first outing this year, but good for decreasing drought, the water table, and our gardens. Come dressed in layers and with appropriate rain gear. Please show up at 8:45 am to sign in and pick up your bags so we can start at 9 am and finish our trash pickup by 10 am.
We meet on the second Saturday every month in the parking lot over the levee at the end of Northrop Avenue, off Howe Ave.,behind Panera Bread. We sign in, trash bags are provided, and new folks are oriented. We then spend an hour removing trash from the UU Mile (American River Parkway Mile 6/7 North). We meet back at the levee stairway for a group photograph and a display of what we’ve picked up. Afterwards we head over to Panera Bread and relax with refreshments and conversation. Please wear good shoes, your ARPF Steward shirts (we have extras if you want one) and bring gloves and a grabber if possible, water, and dress appropriately for the weather. Also, take COVID precautions and consider bringing a mask to use if in close face-to-face contact with others.
On our main Parkway page are the 2024 ARPF ADULT and YOUTH Waivers of Liability which need to be signed ONLY ONCE FOR THE WHOLE YEAR if you are to participate in the monthly clean ups. It would save time Saturday or in the future if you would DOWNLOAD, and FILL OUT, SIGN and DATE the appropriate form for yourself or for a youth you are the parent or guardian of and bring the completed and signed waiver when you show up. You must sign one BEFORE you actually do any clean up. We will have the same forms available at Northrop, but I would prefer you fill them out in advance.
THANKS FOR YOUR CONTINUING SUPPORT,
Eric Ross, Mile Steward
