Greetings, UUSS Parkway Stewards and Friends,
Last weekend, on Saturday, February 10th, we had a great turnout of fifteen folks who came out and collected close to a thousand pounds of trash. The weather cooperated with decent temperatures and bright, sunny skies. After an hour, walking all along the UU Mile (6 North) loop, we had three large piles collected for County removal, two of which are displayed above and below. Patricia Pratt, Catherine O’Brien, and Randall Henry were standouts; they completely removed what was left of an abandoned camp. Jeff Voeller, for the second month in a row, won the prize for most interesting pick up, a skull. Lastly, two old Stewards who we had not seen in a while, came out and did a great job: Bill Hardy and Doug McDougall. Thanks very much to both of you and our other regulars for the work you put in!
Our next UUSS Parkway Stewards’ Saturday clean up is scheduled on March 9, 2024 with check-in at 8:45 a.m. and an hour of trash collection from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. We’ll look forward to seeing as many of you out there making our American River Parkway a cleaner and safer place to enjoy!
