Dear UUSS Parkway Stewards and friends:

Happy New Year!

On Saturday, December 28th, after rain delays on the two previous Saturdays, 8 of us came out to Mile 6 North of the Parkway (our “UU Mile”) and under gray skies after early morning showers fanned out and finished off our monthly clean ups for the year close to the church off Howe Ave. at the Northrop Access. Despite the damp chill, our group was in good humor and worked well gathering up what we found on and off “the loop” where we do our regular clean ups.

After the group picture, we made it over to Panera Bread to talk about our recent travels and upcoming trips around the U.S. and elsewhere, drink coffee, and enjoy each other’s company…

Looking back over the year, a big shout out and thanks to everyone who took time out to volunteer and help keep our part of the Parkway cleaner. I estimate through our collective efforts we removed roughly about two and a half tons of trash in 2024. Way to go!!!!!

Our next UUSS Parkway Stewards’ Saturday cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, January 11th beginning at 8:45am. Start the New Year off right and join us in fulfilling our mission statement by participating in environmental service: “We come together to deepen our lives and be a force for healing in the world.”

With gratitude,

Eric Ross, Mile Steward
UUSS Parkway Stewards
