Parkway Stewards and friends:
Remember to come out this Saturday, November 12th, for our regular monthly cleanup on the “UUSS mile” of the American River Parkway with a start time of 9am. The forecast is for a high of 61 and no rain, but be sure to dress warmly.
We meet each month on the second Saturday at the parking lot at the end of Northrop Avenue, off Howe Avenue, behind Panera Bread. We sign in; trash bags are provided and new folks are oriented. We then spend one hour removing trash from the UU Mile. We meet back next to the levee stairway for a photograph of our crew and the results of our efforts. Many of us then go over to Panera for refreshments and conversation. Please wear good shoes, bring gloves and water to hydrate, perhaps a “grabber”, and your volunteer spirit… consider masking if you deem it appropriate.
Good news: I have recently acquired a number of new ARPF Steward shirts in various sizes if you don’t have one already and want to show off your volunteer pride. I will have them Saturday for you to choose from. This weekend we may also be joined by some other folks who the ARPF people will send our way. Those of you who are veteran Parkway Stewards, please consider answering any questions for them as they assist us!
Looking forward to seeing you soon,
Eric Ross, Mile Steward
UUSS American River Parkway Stewards
P.S. I was fortunate enough to be in Yosemite this past week after a snow storm and took a slew of photos, including the following one:
