Reminder: Important UU Mile American River Cleanup: This coming Saturday , 7/9 at 7:45AM

As we did last month to “beat the heat” and, in light of the temperature forecast in the mid-90s for this Saturday, July 9th, our regular monthly cleanup on the “UUSS mile” of the American River Parkway will start an hour earlier at 7:45-8am to get our hour in! As you know, our UU Mile had a significant fire on June 22, 2022 and a lot of property was burnt (see picture below). If you have not been out with us in a while we could really use your help this month given the fire. Your efforts will mean a lot in maintaining this important and beautiful jewel of a Parkway.
We meet on the second Saturday of every month in the parking lot, next to the levee, at the end of Northrop Avenue, off Howe Avenue, behind Panera. We sign in; trash bags are provided and new folks are oriented. We then spend one hour removing trash from the UU Mile. We meet back next to the levee stairway for a photograph of our crew and the results of our efforts. Afterward, many of us continue the fun at Panera with refreshments and conversation. Remember to wear good shoes, your ARPF Steward shirts if you have one, bring gloves and water to hydrate, perhaps a “grabber”, and your volunteer spirit… consider masking if you deem it appropriate….
Looking forward to seeing you soon,
Eric Ross, Mile Steward
