Hello, UUSS Parkway Stewards,

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. This coming week portends very hot temperatures in Sacramento. Because of that, our regularly scheduled monthly second Saturday clean up this coming Saturday, June 8th, and for the rest of the summer is being moved to an earlier time, from 8:45 am to 7:45 am to “beat the heat” so we can start at 8 am and finish by 9 am.

We meet on the second Saturday every month in the parking lot over the levee at the end of Northrop Avenue, off Howe Ave., behind Panera Bread. We sign in, trash bags are provided, and new folks are oriented. We then spend an hour removing trash from the UU Mile (American River Parkway Mile 6 North). We meet back at the levee stairway for a group photograph and a display of what we’ve picked up. Afterwards we head over to Panera Bread and relax with refreshments and conversation.

Please wear good shoes, your ARPF Steward shirts (we have extras if you want one) and bring gloves and a grabber if possible, water, and dress appropriately for the weather.

On the main American River Parkway Stewards page you can download PDFs for the 2024 ARPF ADULT and YOUTH Waivers of Liability which need to be signed ONLY ONCE FOR THE WHOLE YEAR if you are to participate in the monthly clean ups. It would save time Saturday or in the future if you would DOWNLOAD, and FILL OUT, SIGN and DATE the appropriate form for yourself or for a youth you are the parent or guardian of and bring the completed and signed waiver when you show up. You must sign one BEFORE you actually do any clean up. We will have the same forms available at Northrop, but I would prefer you fill them out in advance from the attachment.

Finally, my apologies to both Dave Newland and Theo White for not mentioning their participation last month.

THANKS FOR YOUR CONTINUING SUPPORT,

Eric Ross,
Mile Steward
UUSS Parkway Stewards
