Hope you enjoyed the title of this post. This past Saturday, June 11th, we were able to start an hour earlier at 8am cleaning up to “beat the heat” on a forecasted triple digit temperature day. Most impressively, even though technically not our job, we found and removed tremendous amounts of trash around the parking lot BEFORE one actually crosses the levee into the American River Parkway. See first picture below for what we collected in the parking lot in the first 20 minutes we were there.

Afterwards, on the Parkway bike trail and on and off the back loop trails close to the river, we continued our efforts and picked up even more debris and abandoned equipment which made it to the huge pile you see in the above picture. A job well done!!!

Many thanks to all of you who came out and cheerfully helped make our UU Mile a lot cleaner. And thanks to those of you who after working an hour out there shared coffee and good conversation at Panera Bread. The next cleanup is set for Saturday, July 9th, AGAIN starting at 7:45am to 8am. Looking forward to seeing you next month.

All the best,
Eric Ross

  1. Thank you! What a haul. It’s awful that you have to do it, and a blessing that you did it.
