Please view either or both of the following for the discussion:
1. The Ohio State University’s Kirwan Institute: Implicit Racial Bias 101
There are 3 modules (really 4 but skip Mod 2 as it’s specific to child welfare) one of which includes a link to the Implicit Association Test. It took about 40 min to do the videos (and extra to do the tests).
2. TED Talk: How racial bias works — and how to disrupt it. Jennifer Eberhardt, 14 minutes, June 22, 2020
Reflection/Discussion Questions
- What observations, aha’s or challenges came up for you?
- Can you think of a situation when bias influenced the situation? How?
- What is a lesson learned about bias that you take with you?
