Black Lives Matter Banner Update

The Board-appointed task force has been meeting every week for a month to design the banner, draft wording for our website about what it means to us to erect a banner, raise funds to pay for a banner and materials to install it, and to plan for the dedication ceremony. We have asked for advice from various consultants and priced the banner from different vendors. We have learned and grown.
Tentatively, the dedication ceremony will be Sunday, October 30 at 1:15 PM.
THIS SUNDAY, Oct. 23, we will show you the banner during the Fall Congregational Meeting!
The big vote at the fall business meeting is the selection of 12 local organizations to be our Community Partner recipients for half of the Sunday offering in the months of calendar year 2017. The Black Lives Matter and Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) Sacramento Chapters are listed on the ballot as nominees. Although their chapters are not formally recognized as 501(c)3 tax-deductible organizations, they do meet the requirement of providing a hands-on activity to help people in the greater Sacramento community. Please consider these organizations when voting on Sunday to support their important racial justice work.
