At last Sunday’s Black Lives Matter forum, I shared highlights from the Black Lives Matter Sacramento Chapter meeting on July 16, 2016 as well as information on an upcoming Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) Sacramento Chapter meeting on August 24, 2016 to empower white allies to get engaged in the movement. I am posting copies of these handouts below for reference. We have extended an invitation to have leadership from both chapters provide a presentation on an upcoming Sunday. So, stay tuned!

Infiltrate Oak Park Aug 1 – Aug 15
We are using the month of Black August to ensure that Oak Park knows that Black Lives Matter! From gentrification and displacement, to long time residents being over policed, Oak Park has been on the chopping block for years now. We are coming together for a series of events where we will be occupying space in the lovely Oak Park.
Be on the lookout for dates and locations.
OAK PARK NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION MEETING
AUGUST 4th 5:30-7pm
Oak Park Community Center
3415 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
On a regular basis this “neighborhood association” meeting/Facebook page has silenced, kicked out, and bossed around long time residents of color that attend, and catered to many of the newer residents that have money or are gentrifying the community. Black Lives Matter Sacramento will be filling this space up with folks of color to ask the hard questions.
SACRAMENTO COMMUNITY POLICE COMMISSION BOARD MEETING
AUGUST 8th 6-8pm
Sacramento City Hall
915 L Street
Let’s fill the room up!
