Join us Sunday, January 19th for the launch of our renewed efforts towards racial justice. The third goal of our congregationally approved strategic plan calls for us to “live out our commitment to justice, equity, and compassion by increasing our understanding of our role in perpetuating racism.” On Martin Luther King, Jr., weekend, we launch a series of programs in 2020 for learning and action toward racial justice in congregation, community, and country. We’ll consider the grassroots initiative in the denomination to add an 8th Principle to the Unitarian Universalist Association’s bylaws—come find out more.
Sermon: Unfinished Business and a Journey Toward Wholeness – Rev Dr Roger Jones and Rev Lucy Bunch, preaching.
Re-dedication of our banner, Black Lives Matter Here . The previous one was vandalized in the fall.
Forum after the service at 12:00 pm in the sanctuary. We will view a video of a presentation by Brittany Packnett from the UU General Assembly in 2018. Its a passionate challenge to us to do the work of dismantling racism in ourselves and our institutions. The video will be immediately followed by time for reflection and small group discussion. The goal of this forum is to begin implementing our new UUSS strategic plan’s third goal — live out our commitment to justice, equity, and compassion by increasing our understanding of our role in perpetuating racism. All are welcome!
