Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) Sacramento Community Meeting
Wednesday, Sept. 27th
Newcomer Orientation at 6:00 p.m.
General Meeting at 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Unitarian Universalist Society of Sacramento
SURJ community meetings are all ages with potluck dinner and childcare provided. These meetings are held quarterly; we hope you will attend to learn more about their chapter and get involved with local racial justice work.
During the meeting, SURJ will discuss the work that their subcommittees have been working on, as well as projects that the chapter has been and will be working on in the coming months.
About SURJ Sacramento: Our role as part of a multi-racial movement is to undermine white people’s support for white supremacy and to help build a racially just society. Through community organizing, mobilizing, and education, SURJ Sacramento moves white people in our community to act as part of a multi-racial majority for justice with passion and accountability. We work to connect people across varying neighborhoods and backgrounds, while supporting and collaborating with local and national racial justice organizing efforts. As a chapter, we particularly value our relationships with community members of color. We work under the leadership and guidance of these groups and are accountable to their efforts. SURJ Sacramento provides a space to build relationships, skills, and political analysis to act for change through a non-violent, intersectional, and community-oriented approach.
