Newcomer Orientation @ 6:00 p.m.

General Meeting @ 6:30 p.m.

UUSS Welcome Hall

SURJ Sacramento’s next Community Meeting is Wednesday, January 24th from 6:00pm-8:30pm at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Sacramento, 2425 Sierra Blvd. Potluck and orientation for any newcomers begins at 6:00pm, and the general meeting starts at 6:30pm. SURJ meetings are all ages and held quarterly; we hope you will join us to learn more about the SURJ Sacramento Chapter and to get involved with local racial justice work.

During the meeting, SURJ will discuss the work that their working groups (Education, Mobilizing, Art & Communication) have been working on, as well as projects that the chapter has been and will be working on in the coming months.

About SURJ Sacramento: Their role as part of a multi-racial movement is to undermine white people’s support for white supremacy and to help build a racially just society. Through community organizing, mobilizing, and education, SURJ Sacramento moves white people in our community to act as part of a multi-racial majority for justice with passion and accountability. They work to connect people across varying neighborhoods and backgrounds, while supporting and collaborating with local and national racial justice organizing efforts. As a chapter, they particularly value their relationships with community members of color. They work under the leadership and guidance of these groups and are accountable to their efforts. SURJ Sacramento provides a space to build relationships, skills, and political analysis to act for change through a non-violent, intersectional, and community-oriented approach.
