The Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) Sacramento Chapter is hosting their next meeting at UUSS in the Welcome Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 26th. All are welcome to attend!
If this is your first meeting, please arrive at 6:00 p.m. for an orientation. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. with a potluck and kid zone.
This meeting will focus on police brutality. We will watch a short video and look at personal accounts from real police interactions. Members of Black Lives Matter Sacramento will discuss the stories of Adriene Ludd, Dazion Flenaugh, and Joseph Mann, the three Black men killed by Sacramento police officers this past year. Time will be allocated for small group discussions on action planning and next steps.
In regards to the cancellation of September’s meeting, SURJ would like to take this opportunity to again apologize for the inconvenience. The meeting was cancelled because, as a new committee, they are still finding their footing and were lacking cohesion last month. They intend to ensure that no future meetings are cancelled. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Please subscribe to the SURJ Sacramento Facebook page to stay up-to-date on future events! For more information about SURJ, including their mission and values, please visit www.showingupforracialjustice.org.
